We are a group of dedicated fans of the iconic 1952 film, The Quiet Man, who have banded together to do all we can to see to the restoration, preservation and protection of the wonderful cottage featured in the film, the cottage known as White O’Morn. Although we have no claim to ownership of the cottage and surrounding area, we are in continual contact with the legal owner of White O’Morn, Mr. Gregory Ebbitt.

HELP WANTED
Hello Quiet Man fans, this is Gregory Ebbitt, the owner of White O’Morn, and I am asking for your help. As you know, after many years of trying and hoping, disappointment, and suffering a multitude of setbacks that I never saw coming, it looks like my dream – the dream we all share – may be finally happening. I am, of course, speaking about the restoration of White O’Morn.
I am sure everyone realizes that this will not happen overnight. There are many, many steps and procedures that have to be taken before we can even “break ground.” Environmental impact studies must be completed, reports submitted, plans approved, permits applied for, and many other steps. As overwhelming as this sounds, we remain optimistic and continue to do all we can to move through this process and toward completion of our shared goal.
This is a monumental task, however. Anyone can build a cottage, and anyone can build a facsimile of White O’Morn. But these will not be the real White O’Morn. There is, after all, only one. And to restore the one and only real White O’Morn, we need your help.
In addition to those in my group, the White O’Morn Foundation,U.S.A., there are others who are tirelessly working behind the scenes on our behalf. They believe in the restoration and have been willingly and selflessly working to help us in achieving this goal. Many will no doubt like to know just who these “cottage heroes” are, however, they have asked to remain anonymous at this time and we will continue to protect their privacy until they say otherwise.
But we still need more help.
We need help finding and securing a legal firm willing and able to establish a non-profit entity to handle donations that will be used for the restoration. We will need experienced workers, stone masons, quarrymen, thatchers, and other artisans. We will also need those whose expertise lays in other areas as well. I know that there are many, many wonderful and dedicated fans who want to help. I know that the wonderful people of Ireland want to help. So I am reaching out to all of you to rally behind this project and help us to restore White O’Morn to her former glory! If you would like to offer your help and your expertise, please feel free to contact me through my White O’Morn Foundation, U.S.A. website and let us know how you would be willing to help.
I would also like to address another point, one in which many of you are aware. We have our detractors. Those who want to see the cottage restored, but only for their own purposes, and not for the enjoyment of all. As discouraging as it has been to both hear and read some of the terrible things they have said about me, I am also encouraged and often overwhelmed by the equally positive words of support from so many wonderful fans, not only here in America, but also in Ireland and in other parts of the world.
I know we can accomplish this difficult goal, and that we can all experience the same feeling of warmth and welcome that Sean Thornton felt when he first laid eyes on White O’Morn after being away for so many years.
Thank you, my friends. I look forward to hearing from all of you - together we can do this!

Hello White O'Morn Fans!
We are very pleased to report that yesterday, July 10, 2012, there was a meeting held with Minister Jimmy Deenihan, the Irish Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. Also in attendance were Senator Fidelma Healy-Eames, Mike Ward of the Save The Quiet Man Cottage group, and Gus Martin. Also in attendance, via telephone, was our own Mr. Greg Ebbitt.
Mr. Ebbitt reports that he had a very productive conversation with Minister Deenihan as they discussed the restoration of White O’Morn. Mr. Ebbitt said that Minister Deenihan was very encouraged about the restoration and very positive about it, and said that the Irish government is ready to see the cottage restored and that he will do everything he can to help to project.
Mr. Ebbitt emphasized to Minister Deenihan that his group, the White O’Morn Foundation, U.S.A., and Mike Ward and his group, the Save The Quiet Man Cottage group are working in cooperation together to accomplish the restoration and that no other groups or individuals are currently authorized to work on the restoration on Mr. Ebbitt’s behalf.
Mr. Ebbitt said he was thrilled to be able to speak with Minister Deenhian and very thankful for the opportunity to do so. Mr. Ebbitt and those of us with the White O’Morn Foundation U.S.A. Advisory Board are also very thankful and appreciative of the monumental efforts of Mr. Mike Ward, founder of the Save The Quiet Man Cottage group. Mike Ward not only arranged the meeting between Mr. Ebbitt and Minister Deenihan, but while waiting for the meeting to be confirmed, he was notified on the day of the meeting that it was to take place, and Mike dropped everything he was doing and drove 250 miles to Dublin to see the minister and coordinate the telephone call between Mr. Ebbitt and Minister Deenihan.
Mike Ward’s level of selfless commitment to the restoration project cannot go unrecognized or unmentioned. Mr. Ebbitt was very emphatic in his desire to let everyone know that Mike Ward is a dedicated and unselfish man, and that we all owe a great deal of thanks to Mike Ward. We cannot thank him enough for all that he has done and continues to do on behalf of the cottage. Thank you Mike!

Over the past few weeks it has come to our intention that there are certain individuals who are attempting to present themselves as affiliated with the White O’Morn restoration project and with our group, the White O’Morn Foundation, U.S.A. It is possible that one or more of these individuals have gone so far as to solicit donations on the pretense that said donations would be for the restoration of White O’Morn. It is also possible that one or more of these individuals may have contacted the Irish government in an attempt to solicit permission to restore the cottage through one or more means. We would like to make it very clear, in the strongest possible manner, that the only person who has the legal right or ability to restore White O’Morn is the owner of the cottage, Mr. Gregory Ebbitt. No other person can make that decision. We are fortunate, however, that Mr. Ebbitt is determined to restore the cottage.
We would also like to make it clear that the only individuals or groups who are affiliated with Mr. Ebbitt in the restoration process are those listed by name on our website (http://whiteomornusa.weebly.com/) as members of our Advisory Board, and no others.
By continuing to engage in their deceitful practices, these individuals are harming not only the restoration of White O’Morn, but also the many, many Quiet Man and White O’Morn fans around the world. Therefore, we are making an official request of these individuals to immediately stop their deceit.

The White O’Morn Foundation, U.S.A. came into existence when it was learned that there was an effort being made by others to not only restore the cottage, but to do so according to their own agenda. These others have not only excluded the owner, Mr. Ebbitt, from their plans, but have gone so far as to call for his property to be seized and his rights as the legal owner to be stripped from him. These others have made several scurrilous claims and outright lies concerning Mr. Ebbitt and have deceived many into believing them. The White O’Morn Foundation, U.S.A. webpage will serve to “set the record straight” and not only see to the restoration and preservation of the cottage, but Mr. Ebbitt’s rights as well.
We encourage you to browse through the various pages of our website, and learn about the history of White O’Morn, Mr. Ebbitt’s previous restoration efforts and the problems he encountered, as well as several photos and videos related to both White O’Morn and The Quiet Man. We would also encourage you to visit our blog and Facebook page as often as you can to keep updated as to our efforts and progress throughout the restoration process.
